Rescue Me ID: 17-02-26-00035Rockwell (male)

Pit Bull Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Of course the first thing anyone notices about Rockwell is his stunning good looks, including silly wrinkled forehead and ears that just can't seem to decide which way to go. But spend more than 10 seconds with him and you will soon find his personality is the best thing about him. Rockwell is an approx. 2-3 yr old proverbial bull in a china shop. He is a bit unmannered (lets just call it exuberance about life) but his personality shines through. He has never met anyone he doesn't consider a friend (and friends sit on each other in his eyes) and will offer adorable play bows and leaps to prove the point. This goes for humans and other ... (Read More)dogs (and the occasional goose he comes across). Rockwell would benefit from a family willing to teach him some manners, including not pulling on the leash to greet everyone, and one that wants to live with what might actually be the world's happiest dog. He is already up to date on vet care, including neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. Come meet this handsome lug today! (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-02-21-00250Pixie Stix (female)

Lab Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Pixie Stix (or just Pixie to her friends) is anything but just another brown dog! This sweet, fun, smart girl is estimated to be 1-2 years old. She ended up at a local shelter and after months was adopted, but unfortunately her energy level was a bit too much for her new family, so back to the shelter she went. Pixie is a girl who definitely needs both physical and mental exercises to help her be her best self, but once she gets a chance to get her sillies out she wants nothing more than to please her people. Although listed as a lab mix she may also have some sort of working breed (shepherd or malinois maybe) mixed in there. Regardless ... (Read More)of her genes, the result in a super cool dog looking to find someone who appreciates life as much as she does. Pixie is friendly with other dogs, although at times a bit clueless (nothing aggressive, just a bit pushy and overexcited) and loves to play with them, but might be best with a tolerant dog who can continue to teach her appropriate doggy manners. She was cat tested at the shelter and play bowed the cat, but if you have any feline friends we can cat test her again and see if she might be able to live harmoniously with cats. Pixie is up to date on vet care including spayed, vaccinated, microchipped and tested negative for heartworm. Contact us today to meet this extra special girl! (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-02-06-00252Arthur (male)

Chihuahua Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Personality: Low Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Poor Arthur has hit a bit of a rough patch is hoping to find a loving, understanding family. He, and a few of his Chihuahua companions, were surrendered to a local shelter after their owner died. Arthur has been understandably scared and confused in a new environment. He does have some skin issues that should clear up nicely with some high quality food and immune support. The hair loss may have been due to fleas, however he has been treated and is free of those pesky freeloaders now. Arthur is still scared and reactive if new people move too quickly with him or suddenly try to scoop him up, but give him a little time and some gentle ... Rescue Me ID: 17-02-06-00001Diamond (female)

Bull Terrier Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Diamond is a super awesome approx. 7 yr old super mutt (looks like a bull terrier face, shar pei ears and a chunky terrier butt!) who recently found herself at a local shelter when her family was unable to care for her. Diamond is a really fun, spunky and sassy girl! She appears housebroken (but expect she will need a refresher as she gets settled into a new home, like most dogs) and will bark at you to remind you she needs to go out. Diamond has lived with kids in her former home and is friendly with every person who crosses her path since coming to us. She is good with most other dogs, but does love to be bossy with them sometimes so ... (Read More)would do best with a dog who is a bit more submissive and tolerant. Diamond is being treated for an ear infection and will be sent home with any remaining medication. She is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped and heartworm tested. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-03-27-00197Bruno (male)

Pit Bull Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Not Good with Cats
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Fearful/Anxious

This ruggedly handsome, wiggle-butt mutt is Bruno- 55 pounds of loyalty and love. Bruno's story begins at ACCT Philadelphia, where he found himself as a stray dog, singing the blues in his kennel until a friend came along. He certainly found a dedicated friend, who after months of visiting him daily, took him into foster care. Bruno spent a couple months in foster care with a pit-mix foster sister, who he got along with beautifully. He seemed an anxious dog, but the lifestyle of his foster just seemed to fit; low foot traffic, plenty of exercise, and an experienced handler. This is where Bruno's amazing personality really shined. He's a ... (Read More)total goofball, who's tail seems to never stop wagging. His affection supply is never-ending, and he's perfectly content with life as long as he's got toys around. They're his absolute favorite! Bruno found himself at Dog Town Rescue when his foster had to make a big move out of state. He fit right into our dog park environment, and quickly won over the hearts of staff members. Soon after, Bruno was adopted by a great family with many young kids. Once settled in their home, it became apparent that they were not the fit for Bruno's anxious energy. They often had unannounced visitors in and out, a busy household, and were not able to offer Bruno the structure he needed. After exhibiting some guarding behaviors with strangers entering the house, it was decided that Bruno should come back to Dog Town by all involved. Since returning, while still the happy boy we know and love, Bruno's anxiety has been apparent. He is only comfortable with certain staff members, which we have accommodated. We felt it best to have Bruno evaluated by a trainer. The trainer recognized Bruno's anxiety, but certainly encouraged us that it is workable, and he can excel in the proper home. We have taken him back for a session, where we worked heavily on a 'place' command which would be useful for visitors coming into a home. Bruno is one smart cookie! He nailed it no problem, and with some consistent training, we are confident he could master it. His training plan involves a lot of desensitizing, and working on recall and focus, even with distractions. Bruno needs a very special adopter that will commit to continuing to work with him. With training, his behaviors can be modified, but also need to be managed for a lifetime. He needs a strong, patient leader, who will fulfill his needs for exercise and structure. Luckily, Bruno is the wiggliest, happiest dog around once he is comfortable with you. His tail can wag a mile a minute, he's affectionate, he LOVES toys, and he has an incredible amount of love to give. While he needs a slow approach when meeting people, his personality is well worth the wait. This boy promises to keep you smiling, and you'll have a loyal friend for life. If you're the right fit for Bruno, we promise that the work is worth the reward. He's a really special dog, who just needs a really special kind of owner. Bruno's adoption fee ($100) will go directly towards a session with the trainer we've been using to work on his behaviors. It covers the whole session, so we can be sure you will start off on the right foot! For more information, email adoptions@dogtown309.com. (Less)
